Just a thought…

People are giving their lives to educate us yet Google is feeding me stories about naked celebrities.

Today I was reading a story about James Foley, a American journalist who was executed, who, as quoted by his mother, “gave his life trying to expose the world to the suffering of the Syrian people” and at the bottom on the article there was a video about it and before it played, a 30 second advert for the new Cameron Diaz movie “Sex Tape” played.  Not only is this insensitive, it has a risk of desensitising us to violence and normalising it, we absorb the facts and don’t feel.  This is apparent everywhere though, a front page article of a murder is sensationalised next to a top banner talking about a new celebrity romance on the horizon.  You would not put an advert on a grave.

The world is fuelled by money, which is fuelled by greed, greed undermines morals creating click bait to appeal to people’s new fleeting reduced attention span.

Mark Zuckerberg famously quotes “A squirrel dying in front of your house may be more relevant to your interests right now than people dying in Africa.”

It seems that for some reason because the creator of Facebook admits to this that it makes it some what acceptable?
